ASWS was asked to undertake a full window condition survey of the building prior to commencing work, detailing all types of windows, including opening vents, missing elements of ironmongery, window condition and any breakages. The ASWS survey was then used as a pricing document and we were appointed as the window contractor by McLaren.
Once on site, due to programme restrictions and the significant replacement of ironmongery needed on this project, we had to immediately begin a full ironmongery specification. This included measuring all of the stay lengths and duplex sizes on the 240 different windows in the building. Once this was in place and ironmongery was being cast and manufactured we began to service and overhaul all of the 240 windows.
Once the decoration was completed, by others, we began the refixing of ironmongery. In total, we replaced nearly 1500 pieces of ironmongery, in some cases designing and manufacturing bespoke bracketry for the windows. We also refurbished, polished and patinated the original bronze ironmongery on the first and ground floors. Whilst on site, we were asked by McLaren to offer our guidance on the internal atrium doors, which resulted in ASWS replacing and suiting, to floors, all the 84 internal atrium door locks, prior to their servicing and overhauling.
