ASWS was pleased to announce that they completed the contract to undertake the repair, refurbishment and decoration of the Grade II Listed façade windows at 21 Glasshouse Street. John Sisk & Son’s selected ASWS to deliver the full window refurbishment works whilst the windows remained in-situ. The Crown Estates Quadrant 3 is located just off Regent Street with retail street frontage on this internationally famous thoroughfare. After a completing an initial survey and a Schedule of Works document, we were delighted to be awarded the main works contract. We enjoyed utilising our specialist window refurbishment and restoration skills on this Grade II listed building, refurbishing the 176 windows on both the Regents Street and Glasshouse Street elevations including both light-wells. We serviced all 358 opening vents and reglazed a vast majority of the near 1800 panes of glass. We also treated, polished and refixed the historic ironmongery bringing it back to a painted finish. One of the interesting elements on this project was the specialist refurbishment and reglazing of the original fire copper light glazing system that was present in various locations throughout the building.
Working on one of London’s busiest streets, in the run up to the Regents Street Christmas light switch on, was just one of the challenges ASWS had to deal with on this project. Once again, the client, architect, main contractor and heritage England were delighted with the finished product achieved by ASWS.
“We regularly use ASWS and 21 Glasshouse Street went really well. The initial schedule of works that they produced was incredibly useful and detailed. It was quite a tricky project for them and they did a very good job, especially considering the budgetary constraints and number of windows involved. Their advice and expertise were very helpful, especially with the ironmongery.”
